The day has come, the time is finally here. I’ve been looking forward to this for some time now…
Our new website has launched!
Writing a blog is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, but small children, lack of sleep and life have all seem to get in the way until now.
Once my daughter turned one, and I was getting a bit more sleep, I contacted a company who’s work I had liked for some time, and asked them to help me create a new website, and develop our brand. Along with some lovely Amy Faith photography, and PaperTwin graphics the new site is finally ready and I am very excited to be sharing it with you.
I have even had a change of name, formerly known as Lizzie’s Larder, now we are called Elizabeth Harris, which coincidentally is also my name! The name ‘Lizzie’s Larder’ suited the business when it first started, but we have evolved quite a lot in the last seven years, and the new name reflects our more ‘grown-up’ status. Elizabeth Harris now also specialises in wedding cakes and I am eager to show you all the beautiful cakes I have been making over the last few years.
I am also hoping to share a few insider insights with you through the blog section of my website.
Over the coming months I will be sharing hints and tips on how to create perfect cake, overcoming problems with icing, how-to tutorials, and personal stories about my own cake creations and things that inspire me.
Before we get going you may want to know a little bit about me….
I have a wonderful husband, Drew, and two gorgeous kids, Tobias and Penny. I first began to make cakes at home with my Mum who taught me a lot of what I know today. The business started slowly and I remember the very first order from a cafe in Liverpool which I made in my Mum’s kitchen. This was the start of Lizzie’s Larder. The Larder and I were very busy producing great, fresh cakes for the likes of Quarter Bar, Deli Fonseca, and many others for 5 years until the day came when the world of sugar-craft came knocking at my door. Here I found a new challenge and a new direction for my passion.
I took my seasoned cake making skills and introduced them to my new world of sugar craft. After working professionally as a cake decorator, for renowned bakers & chocolatiers Slatterys in Manchester for a number of years, I took the plunge and left the job security of a big company, to go back pursuing my first love – creating beautiful, innovative and personalised cakes for all occasions.
Meeting with customers is one of the best parts of my job, as I love them to have input into every element of the cake from the flavours to the design. Every cake I make is bespoke, guaranteeing my customers their dream wedding or celebration cake.
Please share, like and follow our social media pages and join us on the journey… fingers crossed we may one day be creating a cake for you.
